July, 21st 2006	Absolute Sharpening Web™ 1.2.4 has been released! You can now select the font!
May, 15th 2006	Absolute Sharpening Web™ 1.2.3 has been released! Bug fix: Settings were reset to defaults when "Original" size was selected and "Save Settings" requested. Border around the picture can now be deactivated. The script now purges the history cache.

November, 10th 2005	We tried very hard to include the new Adobe Photoshop® CS2 Smart Sharpen filter in our script but we found that the current version of Absolute Sharpening™ (1.4.1) does better without! The next version will add more steps in the sharpening and noise control levels. Also, we are now working on a companion script that will help you to format your pictures for the web.
May, 3rd 2005	Absolute Sharpening™ Pro V1.4.1 has been successfully tested with Adobe Photoshop® CS2! We are now working on improving Absolute Sharpening™ Pro by leveraging the new features of CS2. Please stay tuned!

Introduction

Absolute Sharpening™ Pro is a Photoshop® CS / CS2 / CS3 script that will enhance your pictures using various sophisticated sharpening techniques. You can select the level of sharpening and easily adjust numerous parameters, thanks to the simple yet comprehensive user interface.

Absolute Sharpening™ Pro works on 8 and 16 bits per channel images.

Absolute Sharpening™ Pro works best on RAW images that have been converted with no sharpening applied or on jpeg images with the in camera sharpening turned off.

How does it work?

Absolute Sharpening™ Pro uses an exclusive multi pass multi layer sharpening algorithm with sophisticated edge sharpening control. You can even work on the sharpening layers created by Absolute Sharpening™ Pro and fine tune the final result!

Minimum System Requirements

Absolute Sharpening™ Pro works with Photoshop® CS/CS2/CS3 on Windows and Mac. It doesn't work with other versions of Photoshop® or Photoshop Elements®.

How much does it cost, How can I get it?

You can get Absolute Sharpening™ Pro for $9. Just click on the "PayPal Buy Now" button and follow the payment instructions. You will receive the script by email (usually few hours after we process your payment).

Installation

• Exit Photoshop.
• Install Absolute Sharpening™ Pro on your system by extracting the Sharpen.js file in your <Photoshop>/Presets/Scripts folder.
• Start Photoshop.
• Et voila! The script is now in [File] -> [Script] -> Sharpen.
• You can even assign a keyboard shortcut to the script.
• You can change the default settings by clicking on the Save as Default button.
  

Recommended Settings and Tips

• Remember to turn sharpening off when you process your raw files (with Adobe ACR®, Capture One® or any other raw converter). If you process jpeg files directly from the camera please turn the in camera sharpening to the minimum and uncheck the Capture Sharpening parameter.
• The script do not duplicate your document. If you are working with an original file (jpeg, tiff), don't overwrite it!
• With high ISO images, where noise is visible, check the Noise Control option.
• All these recommended settings apply to images that haven't been resized (native resolution). Cropping doesn't matter.
  
• Use the following table as a guideline and don't hesitate to experiment!
• The Extreme sharpening level (introduced with the version 1.4 of Absolute Sharpening™) should only be used with images converted from RAW files with no sharpening applied during the RAW conversion and at the native resolution. Some cameras, like the Nikon D70, will show sharpening artifacts with this setting. Some options are not available when the sharpening level is set to Extreme.
